In his Exposure series, Mário digitally explores the relationship between the chemical photographic processing of light in film photography, and the viewer in the creation of complementary colours.
Mário's Exposure series strive to incorporate both the Overexposure and Underexposure physical light-sensitive process after photographic exposure to light.
Reflecting on the chemical photographic process in film photography, his painterly trichromatic creative process visually communicates this relationship with a uniquely charged chiaroscuro relationship between Negatives, Positives and the viewer in the creation of complementary colours.
His Exposure series is directly influenced by his Receptors, Rainbow and Polarization series, in which he paints each series through his light-sensitive photographic Exposure lens.
In each Exposure painting, the mesh of hatched, and cross-hatched RGB pixel strokes is digitally (re)painted to represent the physical light-sensitive process that produces Negatives and Positives after a photograph exposure to light.
With the Exposure series, Mário exposes each Receptors, Rainbow, Polarization superposition through his trichromatic pixel lens, exposing to the viewer the imaginarily charged Positive photograph that is ultimately the real physical reality of his pixel strokes on fine art paper.
Through his multi-series Exposure lens, Mário takes the viewer into a discovery journey of the physical film photography process, ultimately placing the viewer in the center of the narrative of complementary colours, seamlessly taking the viewer towards their intimate and individual connection with all imaginary complementary colours.
