In his Dodge Burn series, Mário digitally explores the relationship between the Dodging and Burning darkroom revelation photographic technique of film photography, and the viewer in the creation of multiple colours.
Mário's Dodge Burn series strives to incorporate both the Dodging and the Burning physical light-sensitive exposure techniques used on darkroom revelation film photography.
Reflecting on the Dodging and Burning photographic process in film photography, his painterly trichromatic creative process visually communicates this relationship with a painterly charged chiaroscuro relationship between Dodging, Burning and the viewer in the creation of colours.
His Dodge Burn series is directly influenced by his Receptors, Rainbow and Polarization series, in which he paints each series through his light-sensitive photographic Dodge Burn lens.
In each Dodge Burn painting, the mesh of hatched, and cross-hatched RGB pixel strokes is digitally combinated with a mesh of hatched, and cross-hatched CMY(K) pixel strokes to jointly represent the physical Dodging and Burning photographic process in film photography, producing both Dodged and Burned negatives/positives.
With the Dodge Burn series, Mário exposes each Receptors, Rainbow, Polarization superposition through his trichromatic pixel lens, exposing to the viewer the imaginarily charged Dodged and Burned negatives and positives.
Through his multi-series Dodge Burn lens, Mário takes the viewer into a discovery journey of the physical Dodge and Burn film photography process, placing the viewer in the center of the narrative of colours, seamlessly expanding both the painterly continuum of the viewer and their conscious perception on the immaterialily of the multiplicity of colours.
